Oh Cosmonaut!
The Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre
November 04, 2011

The Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre’s mission is to redefine the relationship between audience and art by presenting bold choreography in extraordinary places.  Since 1985, Heidi has choreographed over 60 original dance works at unique sites in Russia, Hong Kong, New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Portland and throughout Southern California.  Originally commissioned by the Link Vostok International East-West Arts Exchange to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Yaroslavl, “Oh Cosmonaut” was conceived as a site specific work for a theater loading dock in Russia. The work has since been adapted for performance in a synagogue, and now for the Branson at Boston Court.  This highly provocative work was inspired by the life of Yaroslavl resident, Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman cosmonaut who travelled in space in 1963.  The performance includes film, electronics, and live musical accompaniment by Steve Moshier’s Liquid Skin Ensemble.

$25 in advance / $30 at door / $20 students
