Powell & Pope
June 03, 2016

wild Up members Adrianne Pope and Linnea Powell put folk, classical, and relentlessly experimental violin and viola chamber music under the lens as part of our WORK series. As Aperture Duo, Adrianne and Linnea captivate audiences in the LA area with shows that juxtapose new commissions and rarely heard works.

Joined by a bunch of friends of wild Up they’ll perform the music of: Pulitzer Prize winner Julia Wolfe, Nick Deyoe, George Aperghis, W.A. Mozart, and a world premiere by Christopher Rountree. Featuring Maiani Magalhães da Silva Nicole Sauder and Mona Tian.

7:00PM and 9:00PM

Tickets (Regular/Senior/Student): $30/$25/$20

Violinist Adrianne Pope and violist Linnea Powell met in 2014 while performing in the LA-based modern music collective, wild Up. After discovering a shared alma mater and a mutual hunger for rarely performed chamber music, they began exploring violin and viola repertoire and formed Aperture Duo in early 2015. Committed to exploring new sounds and pushing the limits of the violin and viola, Aperture Duo has commissioned four new works for their first full season, expanding the already existing duo repertoire. With programs ranging from Mozart to Deyoe, Aperture Duo aims to curate concert experiences that juxtapose the old and the new, foster musical connections, and jump-start conversations. Dedicated to education through music, Aperture Duo has given workshops in Los Angeles County public schools and in the spring of 2016 Aperture Duo will be the ensemble in residence for the Young Musician’s Foundation Composer Workshop.
