A special evening with this jazz trio led by a virtuoso left-handed bassist who has performed with countless greats including Mel Torme’, Peggy Lee, George Shearing, Woody Herman, Benny Carter, Louis Bellson, Doc Severinsen, and k.d. lang. Featuring Randy Drake and Andy Langham.

Remnants of Humanity

Reflections on gender, aging, longing, loving, fear, and triumph from the perspective of a member of the human race who happens to be transgender.

A performance by her and her musical companions utilizing one of the most human of art forms, Jazz.

Jennifer Leitham is a career Jazz musician, and has been a professional musician for over 40 years. She is known for playing for many famous dead people, among them Mel Torme’, Peggy Lee, George Shearing, Woody Herman, Benny Carter, Louis Bellson, and a horde of others you wouldn’t have heard of. She’s also played for some who are still alive, Doc Severinsen, and k.d. lang just to name two.

Her basslines have graced many movies and TV shows, and recently she was the subject of an award winning documentary, I Stand Corrected. She is a bassist, vocalist, composer, arranger, lyricist, and producer. She is an active educator, and has taught at every level, from beginners to grad students and working professionals across the country. Jennifer is currently teaching private students  globally in cyberspace via SKYPE.

She is most proud of her career as a recording artist. As of now she has played on over 125 albums, including 10 albums of her own, (including her huge hit The Real Me), and is currently working on another.

Randy Drake is a Ph.D. student in ethnomusicology and involved in the Doctoral Emphasis Program in Feminist Studies at UCSB. He received his B.M. in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas and his M.M. in Jazz Studies at California State University, Long Beach. Renowned as an educator, Randy has also recorded and toured the world with Dan Siegel, Bill Watrous, John Novello, Pat Kelley, Jennifer Leitham and Gregg Karukas, as well as jazz-pop artists Daniel Ho and Kilauea.

Andy Langham studied jazz performance at the University of North Texas. His touring and recording credits include Poncho Sanchez, Natalie Cole, Christian McBride, Ernie Watts, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Jennifer Leitham, New York Voices, John Abercrombie, Terence Blanchard, Willie Nelson, Randy Brecker, Bobby Caldwell, Larry Coryell, Terry Gibbs, Tom Harrell, Jon Hendricks, James Moody, Sam Rivers, Lew Soloff, Mike Stern, Clark Terry and Steve Turre.
