Development/Marketing Associate

BOSTON COURT PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (a five-year-old non-profit that runs a state-of-the-art facility in Pasadena, California, housing a 99-seat theatre and 65-seat performance space) is seeking a DEVELOPMENT/MARKETING ASSOCIATE. Position will work closely with the Executive Director. The ideal candidate will be creative, articulate, detail-oriented, excellent written skills and have knowledge of electronic communications. Other job responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Executive Director in creating and implementing a viable marketing strategy
  • Identify and implement internet marketing opportunities (both free and purchased)
  • Oversee advertising buys for all events produced by Boston Court
  • Oversee the gathering of data, editing and printing of all printed programs for events at Boston Court
  • Assist Executive Director with planning, administering and implementation of all fundraising activities of Boston Court
  • Assist Executive Director with the development and implementation of future capital fund drives
  • Assist Executive director in identifying possible individual, corporate and foundation contributions
  • Assist with the development of the annual fundraising plan
  • Prepare and/or oversee all direct mail letters, case statements, grants, brochures and sponsorship proposals required to support fundraising efforts
  • Coordinate donor patron receptions, events and galas in collaboration with Events Manager, House Manager and volunteers
  • Ensure that all donors are appropriately thanked and receive regular communication by making donor stewardship a priority throughout Boston Court
  • Research possible funders and grantors
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.

Will be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY ARTS COMMISSION SUMMER INTERN PROGRAM:
Student eligibility for internship positions is limited to currently enrolled, full-time undergraduates who either reside in and/or attend college in Los Angeles County, will have completed at least one semester of college by June of the program year, and will not graduate before December of the program year. Candidates are welcome from all areas of undergraduate study and are not required to have demonstrated a previous commitment to the arts. Production Intern/The Theatre @ Boston Court
Internship Status: OPEN


The Production Intern will work alongside the production team as we present a world premiere musical, GULLS, Book & Lyrics by Nick Salamone and Music by Maury McIntyre (opening July 26, 2008). The intern will learn basics of producing for an award-winning non-profit theatre company at the state-of-the-art, 99-seat Boston Court in Pasadena, California. Primary focus will be on, but not limited to, all aspects of production including budgeting, scheduling, design and basics of running a production week-to-week.


SKILLS: The intern will assist in the production a successful show for a small, non-profit theatre company.

  • Learn basic skills of budgeting
  • Learn basic skills in scheduling
  • Learn basic skills in technical theater design and implementation
  • Develop on-the-job training with experienced production personnel



Marketing Intern/Boston Court Performing Arts Center
Internship Status: OPEN

The intern will learn basics of producing for an award-winning non-profit theatre company at the state-of-the-art, 99-seat Boston Court in Pasadena, California. Primary focus will be on, but not limited to, marketing and audience development in the San Gabriel Valley. This will include developing community outreach, creating and implementing special "Meet the Artists" nights as well as organizing social and educational "Talk-back" events after specific performances.


SKILLS: The Marketing Intern should be comfortable interacting with people both in person and on the phone. The intern should have basic computer and phone skills and be adept at research. The most important qualification is the person should have a passion for live theatre!
